I want to find a few new bands and maybe expand my musical horizon because I’m writing my own music and want to try and make it a little bit different and unique from most music today. the 3 main genres I like are Piano Rock, Acoustic Rock and Punk Pop. Bands that i like from each of them are:

Coldplay
The Rocket Summer

Acoustic Rock:
Counting Crows (i know they arent really theres just no other place for them)
Dashboard Confessional
Secondhand Serenade
Holiday parade
Making April
Mumford and Sons
trading yesterday

Pop Punk:
Yellowcard
Mayday parade
Every Avenue
3 Doors Down
matchbox 20

I know theres a lot of bands there but I just wanna try and find something fresh but rocky and new.

classic music theory and jazz music theory?

i want to learn music theory so i can write my own music on the piano…..is music theory for jazz and music theory for other music different? and if it is, then what is different about it? and also, say i was to learn jazz theory, does that mean i would have trouble making non-jazz music?

What does it take to make your own music?

do you have to be part of that few that has the talent for it? like when a dj creates a song, do they already have the song playing in their head? i want to learn how to play piano and be able to make my own music (preferably jazz/hiphop). after being exposed to being able to play many songs, will the ability to think up of your own music just click in your head? i hope that all makes sense thanks.
