I’m a musician (high school level saxophonist) and I’m looking for a keyboard simply to use for practicing pieces with simple accompaniments, figuring out chords for jazz, and maybe even learn a bit more piano-nothing serious, I don’t want to spend more than 0 at the most. What’s the best keyboard for this price range that fits my needs? Deals on eBay and Craigslist are also acceptable-used or refurbished is fine too, again, I really don’t need much out of it. Also, USB/MIDI input would be good for use with music writing software like MuseScore.
Is this book a good choice for a beginning piano student that is aspiring to learn about the keyboard with an emphasis on jazz? This would be for a student that has no experience sight reading or playing piano.
Also guitar? I am needing to start to get extremely serious about my music because next year I’ll be Senior and hopefully in both band (jazz and sr.) So is 14 to late to learn Piano and also should I buy a keyboard (full or a smaller one) Because I hope to get serious about this… And for guitar should I continue taking lessons? Here’s the questions for piano:
1.) is it to late to start learning for music teaching school?
2.) If it isn’t how should I convince my mom to let me?
3.) Should I buy a full keyboard or small? I’d be saving up my own money and pay my mom back
4.) there is group lessons and private lessons where I take guitar which would be better?
5.) I already play flute for five years how hard would this be to learn?
6.) I’d be taking lessons once a week so. would it be good to get a keyboard?
7.) What is your favorite pat about piano?
8.)why’d you take it in the first place?
I’m a classical pianist, but I really enjoy playing jazz and keyboard stuff as well. For jazz/blues music, all I know is the blues scale. It’s served me well, but there are only so many ways one can arrange six notes…
My piano teacher told me that modal scales (lydian, mixolydian, etc) are used in jazz. It makes sense, because I often hear notes in jazz piano solos that aren’t in the blues scale, and nearly every jazz pianist I listen to seems to use the same kind of notes. I know the theory behind modal scales, but when I go to apply them in a simple jazz song, it just sounds weird. Is there some kind of special technique I should be using? Do I need to practice fooling around with them more in order to find my own sound? Do I need to hitchhike down to the Deep South to learn in the birthplace of the blues? (I hope not, because that’s a long way from Canada.) Thank you.
I’m in my sophomore year of high school and I’ve never been asked on a date or to a dance. I don’t even think I’ve been told any guys like me. I am really busy all the time with three AP classes this year (four next year), band (flute), jazz band (keyboard), private piano lessons (got 2nd in state last year), swim team, volunteering, and a job at my church on Sundays. My GPA is a 4.4 this year. Anyway, if your reason is because that I am too busy or whatever, what can I do to let guys know that I want to be asked on dates and to dances? Does it mean I’m just plain unattractive? I go to a small semi-private school and I am the only asian at my school Just thought I’d mention that. Also, I have a laid back kind of style: straight dark brown/black hair, bangs, shop at Hollister and A&F…

This is an exclusive Piano tutorial for the official song of World cup 2010 – Waving Flag by K’naan. I worked very hard on this video and I even took the time to make music sheet (this version of the song is better than my other video). Adapted from Brasilianmusician’s version. Visit www.HearandPlayJazz.com for more… Dear Fellow Musician, Let’s face it. Most musicians fail to reach professional “guru” status because they place themselves in a musical box. You see, they think just because they play one particular style of music, that they should only learn chords, patterns, and tricks from that same genre. Simply put, if they’re gospel musicians, they tend to buy only gospel courses. If they’re country musicians, they generally seek out country-related material. …and I’m not saying this is wrong. I’m just saying that it’s limiting. It’s like a basketball player refusing to train outside the gym because of a misconception that only track stars “run the bleachers.” Or a chef that only cooks chicken (…and never includes other dishes, cultures, meats, or flavors in their recipes). Personally, I think music is the same way. Good musicians pick a genre, learn everything about that one genre, and ultimately sound good in their “comfort” settings. Great musicians master several genres. They’re able to play in any setting, and most importantly, take things that are “commonplace” in one genre, and “sneak” them into another (…and usually wowing people while they’re at it). Being “good” is fine but in my opinion, good is the enemy of great. If you only want to be good, take my advice above and you’ll do “good” in certain environments. If you want to be great, however, keep reading everything I have to share with you on this page… Visit http for more…
