I am classically trained as a cellist but I want to be a Jazz musician really bad. I picked up the bass and guitar about 2 years ago and I’m learning piano from a very good teacher. Any suggestions on how I can get accepted into a music school for this? (Jazz studies) What do I need to do. I’m going to be a senior in high school this summer, I’m taking AP music theory in school so the theory is not hard for me I’m a really talented musician but I don’t know where to go it seems I’m chasing down time already? What should I do?

What are random sites with fun content?

i want to find more sites that are fun to go to daily. i feel like most of the ones im on have gotten old or dont challange my mind enough or something to that effect.

i like psychology, i like learning underground songs, basketball skill learning, poker, philosophy and astronomy and physics, parkour learning, jazz, saxophone, piano, guitar, rap, rock and pretty much any good music with a good beat, movies and anything with humor jokes, bad pickup lines, collecting, traveling, geography, countries like in asia or spain or any culture really, and workout, MARTIAL ARTS and definately computer sites that could teach me how to code or learn computer tricks for fun stuff like that

And if there are any top notch sites for any of your interests that arent listed let me know.

I need to identify what jazz song this is?!?

Lately in music history we’ve been learning about jazz artists. we’ve learned about Sergei Prokofiev, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Aleksandr Scriabin, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, and Louis Armstrong. He played us the song and we had to go home and identify it for extra credit. I know it has some type of story behind it. It sounded sometimes happy and at times angry. A lot of drum banging and piano. Does anyone have any idea what song?!

Major II V I piano chords vs Minor II V I piano chords?

I have learned all my major II V I chords on the piano and was told that the next step is to learn the minor II V I chords. Could some explain minor II V I or give an example. I could probably figure it out from there. Also, what comes after minor II V Is? What is the next thing I should learn to become a better jazz pianist?

Modern Piano Playing without a teacher? Quit Classical piano or stay on it?

I’ve been playing the piano for eight years now and it’s all classical and yeah i’m getting sick of it. I’m not really a fan of classical music but I’ve managed to get into an advanced level.I had about three teachers now and I’m not yet a master note reader. I can read notes but quite slow I cannot do it on-the-spot. I taught myself how to play Chords and I usually play by ear. Now I want to quit classical piano and learn how to play like those pianists on cruise ships and hotels. I wanna play modern music like songs that people know or even jazz/blues/soul kinda music. Can I learn how to do that without a teacher? Do I need to stay on Classical to be able to play these kinds of songs? If I stay with a classical teacher will I get to play these kinds of songs?
btw the latest classical piece I’ve played is Sonata in C k545 by Mozart
I seriously want to enter a different genre of piano music but my dad says i need to stay on track with the classical before I get to play any modern :(

what are famous jazz piano pieces?

i play piano for almost 7 years now and all i ever learned was classical (because i went to music school). whenever someone tells me to play something i play classical because its the only thing i know to play. now i wanna learn some jazz because the pieces arent so simple, and are cool and different, so when asked to play anything i could play jazz. now, what are some famous pieces that i should start with?

Wana learn Rock Guitar. Prerequisits?

I’ve been a piano musician for about 15 years now so I know a little theory and I can play. I play jazz, some gospel, and used to play classical.
I’d like to learn Rock guitar mainly. I really dont care to be a classical guitarist but should I start at blues guitar first than work my way up to Rock? Wana get them fast riffs :)
I should also add that I’ve taken 2 Guitar courses in highschool already. Passed no problem :) . I have like a Fender Squire at home and an effects program in case I want to use it called Guitar Rig 2. I got a little skill under my belt lol.

Contemporary Vocal Solo with Piano Accompaniment?

I’m an alto in my school’s Jazz Choir and every June we have a performance where we do songs as a group, and then people can do solos if they want. I’m looking for a contemporary song with piano accompaniment that isn’t too terribly difficult to learn, and is something that would be appealing to an audience (obviously). I’m not looking for something that’s rap or r&b or anything similar to that; I would really like a show tune or maybe something pop. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help! :]
